Properly Caring for Your Dry-Cleaned Clothes

By April 20, 2019No Comments

Some of our clothes require a little more care than just tossing them in the washing machine followed by a quick run in the dryer. Instead, they need professional dry-cleaning services. Unfortunately, many of us feel that the wire hanger and plastic sheath combo we receive our clothes back on after dry-cleaning is enough, and we stick them into the closet as is. But, plastic can greatly damage your clothes by:

  • Weakening fabric
  • Discoloring items
  • Encouraging the growth of mildew

Additionally, wire hangers can distort the shape of your clothes by not providing enough support for their weight.

Instead of leaving them as they are when you pick up clothes from the dry cleaners, take the time to pull your clothing items out of the plastic and shift them onto a sturdy hanger before adding them back into your closet. Your clothes will last a lot longer—and they’ll be fresh and ready to go the next time you need to wear them.
