Remove Adhesives with Heat

If you’ve got something sticky that doesn’t want to budge, try using heat to remove it. While chemicals can end up peeling off paint, a hairdryer is a great tool, providing hot air in a concentrated column to direct at the sticky surface.

If painter’s tape stays on a surface for too long, sometimes it can get stuck. Instead of peeling it and ripping the finish off the surface, aim your hair dryer at the tape to loosen the adhesives. Once warmed, the tape will peel right off with no problems.

Tired of that bumper sticker on your car? Take the hairdryer to that, too. The same principles apply and warming up the adhesive makes it easier to peel off the sticker without causing damage to the underlying paint.

If you don’t have a hairdryer, you can also invest in a heat gun. They’re more powerful and are specially made with user-friendly features.
